The PINE COLONY INN is located in Deep
East Texas, and the historic town of Center. The town square, just a
short walk from the inn is much the same as it was 100 years ago. An 1885 "Irish Castle Courthouse" still stands in the
center of the square. The Pine Colony Inn is a restored hotel with over
10,000 square feet of antique filled rooms. It is perfect for enjoying East
Texas hospitality. There are 5 single guest rooms, and 6 suites, all have private baths, telephones, and cable TV. The firm comfortable mattresses offer travelers a good nights rest. The
entire building is served by central air & heat. High speed internet service is offered. A fire protective sprinkling system is in place for your safty. Ceiling fans above every bed quietly turn. Floors are bright and clean yellow pine. An early morning coffee pot waits for you in the sidewalk cafe downstairs. A full country breakfast is offered but is not included in the room rates, below. Rates are based on how many guest are in each room. Breakfast Menu:
Buttermilk pancakes, french toast, eggs, bacon, and fresh fruit in
season, are prepared by your hostess, Regina. Hot coffee and cold
juice is always served with breakfast. Lunch or dinner can be
arranged by advance reservations, for groups of 10 or more. No
smoking is permitted inside the building however, there's a large balcony
just outside the parlor and there are several suites with balconies.
The Pine Colony has a really nice art gallery,
and custom frame shop on the groud floor. Many guests select pieces of art from a large selection and have them custom framed during their stay.
Many artist are featured, but our favorite is local artist "Woodrow
Foster" Texas State Artist for 1991-92.

THINGS TO DO:
FISHING We are located between Toledo Bend, one of the
largest man made lakes in the U.S. and Lake Pinkston.
HUNTING
Hunting is good in Shelby County. We are owners of the Caddo Pass
Hunting Resort & Buck Mountain Ranch, located just 18 miles from Center, TX. You may want to hunt big whitetail deer, wild hog or ducks. Caddo Pass is located on
500 acres. There is a lodge building where meals are served to hunters,
deer stands and much more are provided.
SIGHTSEEING is suggested by your innkeeper, she knows all the little out of the
way places to see. Whether you travel on foot, bicycle or by auto,
Center is halfway between Nacogdoches and the old river port town of
Logansport, Louisiana. San Augustine with its medallion homes, is only
19 miles south. All are full of historic sites and antique shops.
Hodges Gardens, the Big Thicket, and Shreveport with horse racing and
riverboat gambling are within a short drive. Maybe you would like to go
back in time to the age of the steam engine on the Texas State
Railroad. The halfway round trip through Texas longest state park runs
from Rusk to Palestine. Marshall Pottery and the Kilgore Oil Museum are
both near when you visit Pine Colony Inn.
